Full-bodied with hints of fruit and chocolate. At Moyee, they love partnerships. This is why they decided to let their beans partner up and boy did that pay off!

The fruity flavours of the washed Limu bean match perfectly with the sweeter, warmer flavours of the unwashed Jimma and create a beautiful balance. This blend gives you warm, full-bodied cocoa flavours with a finish of brown sugar and a hint of fruitiness. A match made in coffee heaven!

Coffee is broken but Moyee want to fix it.

Coffee is the world’s favourite drink. It’s a global industry worth over a €100bn euro per year and every day we drink a mind boggling 2 billion cups of coffee. But almost none of the profits from coffee go back to coffee growing countries or to the farmers who work so hard to produce the beans we all love.  Around the world 25 million coffee farmers and their families (125 million people!) rely on coffee for their livelihood.

But the business model of global coffee is badly broken. The industry is dominated by a handful of ginormous multinationals obsessed with maximising profits for shareholders. Their model is to buy green beans on the cheap, export them as quickly as possible to the west where they are processed, roasted and sold for obscene profits.

As a result 90% of coffee farmers earn less than €2 a day and the majority of coffee growing countries still rely on international aid. Poor prices and hardship for farmers can lead to deforestation and habitat destruction as land is cleared to grow food and help struggling families survive.

Moyee Coffee and Fairchain

About 8 years ago a bunch of African and European entrepreneurs launched Moyee Coffee. Their ambition was to reimagine the coffee industry and share more of the value from coffee with coffee growing countries. They called this model FairChain.

They set up Moyee’s first roastery in Addis Ababa, established partnerships with coffee communities in the Jimma region and began to develop a roadmap fora living income for coffee farmers which could also protect and rejuvenate the wildlife habitats of the coffee belt.

In 2016, Irish social entrepreneurs, Shane Reilly and Killian Stokes, discovering the good taste and ambition of Moyee, established an outpost in Dublin to bring FairChain coffee to offices, shops and homes across the UK and Ireland.
